POZZI forceps

The POZZI forceps is used in Gynaecology and Obstetrics for gripping the cervix. The POZZI forceps allows immobilization of the cervix during certain surgical interventions (biopsies, cerclage, or conisation).
The POZZI forceps, by virtue of its shape, allows the application of traction on the cervix thereby bringing the uterocervical angle (the angle the axis of the cervix forms with the axis of the uterus) to 180°.
This correction of the uterocervical angle is needed to reach the uterine cavity through the cervical canal without perforating the uterus when inserting instruments or an intrauterine device into the uterine cavity.
